We Are a Semi-Finalist for a $1000.00 Grant

We've received some great news! Out of 700 applicants, The Picasso Kid has been chosen as one of 184 semi-finalists for the Kent Capener small business grant ($1000.00) offered by The Idea Cafe, a top-rated website for small business recognized by C/Net, The Wall Street Journal and Business Week Online.

To win this grant, we need to do a few things to beat out the competition:

1. Spread the word about our candidacy and TheIdeaCafe.com (that includes YOU and our local press).

2. Demonstrate an inventive approach which will inspire others who come to IdeaCafe.com seeking advice on starting and running a business.

We are welll on our way to accomplishing these tasks. You can help too by telling everyone you know about our achievement and about The Idea Cafe. Tell them The Picasso Kid sent you!

Once we make it to the finals, all our friends will be eligible to vote for us...so stay tuned here to find out if we make it.

Upcoming Events at PDL

I want to wish all the Mommys a Happy Mother's Day!!
I hope you have a fun and relaxing day with your family.

There are two upcoming events at Park Dale Lane that I'd like to tell you about:

1: May 21st at 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Studio Night
It is going to be a really fun (and free) night for kids and adults! We are going to get messy with paint to create a Community Art Project! You and your family will get to paint and you will get to take home a piece of the art!! The secret is that you don't know which piece you will get!! The event is being put on by Art*Rageous, a PDL PTA Committee! We will also have music, and fingerpainting for little ones! It is going to be awesome, so please come!!! Children do need to be accompanied by an adult.

2: May 30th at 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Spring Fiesta En El Rancho
The last (and best) party of the year!! Please come to see the El Torito Salsa Cookoff Contest with judges and cash prizes, the cake walk, lots of games for all ages, the Mercado Mexicano, listen to great music, eat tamales, quesadillas, churros, grilled corn, nachos and much more! There will be a lot of friends and family gathered together to celebrate community and Park Dale Lane. Dr.Patterson will be leaving us at the end of the year, so please join us in wishing her the best of luck in her new adventure!!! Come to the party and say goodbye to a wonderful principal and meet our new principal, too!!

DON'T FORGET: May 30th will be the last day to order your copy of the Spring Auction Keepsake Book for the special price of $44.95 for Hardcover, and $29.99 for Softcover. 50% of all proceeds goes directly to PDL Students, so please bring a check made out to The Picasso Kid.
The Media Center would like an extra copy or two if you'd like to donate one to them, we will put your name on the book in the library. It is a great idea book for next year's auction.
Next year, we will be selling ads in the book to raise more money for the kids at school.
